Brief introduction of the Select tester valve / Downhole tester valve

The Select Tester valve is a full-opening, annulus pressure operated tool. With applied pressure, the tool can be locked open and then returned to the normal operating sequence at any time. The ball valve operates independently

of pressure changes from operations such as acidizing and fracturing. This gives the Select Tester valve greater

compatibility and flexibility with other tools in the string.

Operating With OMNI Circulating Valve

When using a SANDGUARD IV (or earlier version) OMNI Circulating Valve in conjunction with the Select Tester Valve,

the major area of concern is the operating pressure. The Select Tester Valve uses an operating pressure that is

significantly lower than what has been used in the past to operate the standard LPR-N or OMNI Circulating Valve.

Under optimum conditions the operating pressure for the Select Tester Valve should be enough to operate the OMNI

Circulating Valve. If the conditions are less than ideal and you need to use a higher operating pressure to cycle the

OMNI Circulating Valve, it must be applied in stages to prevent premature operation of the “lock open” feature of the

Select Tester Valve. It is recommended that when applying pressure in excess of the “normal” operating pressure of

the Select Tester Valve that:

SELECT is in the “Normal Mode”

1. Apply normal operating pressure + 300 psi max. on the initial pressure increase. Any additional pressure must be applied in stages.

2. Wait 5 minutes.

3. Apply additional pressure in stages of 100 psi per minute.

SELECT is in the “Locked Open Mode”.

1. Apply the operating pressure+400psi max. On the initial pressure increase, any additional pressure must be applied in stages.

2. Wait 5 minutes

3. Apply additional pressure in stages of 100 psi per minutes.
